There’s an insane variety of Runes to choose from in League of Legends. Ever since they were reworked (or reforged) a few Seasons back, the Runes have played a pivotal part in the game.

There are some Runes that people aren’t that aware of. This can be for a number of reasons, one of which is unviability. You see, some Runes are just so good that these lesser-known ones cannot even attempt to become popular.

One of these Runes is the Minion Dematerializer. Honestly, up until I started researching this article, I had no idea how to use this thing. I’ve played a few games with it and have yet to genuinely use it properly.

This article will explain what the Minion Dematerializer is and comment on how best to use it.

So, without further ado, let’s begin!

What is the Minion Dematerializer?

The Minion Dematerializer is an Inspiration Rune. Upon game start, you are granted three uses of the item Minion Dematerializer. It is to be used on minions, and as the name implies, it will instantly kill them.

Using the Dematerializer on a minion will gain extra damage against that minion type for the entire game. If you use all the stacks on a single minion type, you will get diminishing increased damage for a total of 12%.

This item has a cooldown of 10 seconds and cannot be sold.

The Best Way of Using it

The Minion Dematerializer is picked up on one-spell casting Mages. The prime example of this is Twisted Fate, who has an overt reliance on his Q for clearing minion waves. You can opt for using the Dematerializer on any minion type you want, but one is definitely the best.

All three stacks should be used on the ranged minions. This will grant you a good damage buff against them and help shove the lane earlier in the game. Later on, with the extra damage, you will be able to clear the wave with a single spell cast. It can be a significant addition that will see you clearing waves fast and easy, much earlier than would otherwise be possible.

Final Thoughts

As we can see, the Minion Dematerializer can be quite useful despite its reputation. It can grant a Mage significant damage to help shove and clear waves very early in the game. Not many players will pick up a niche addition, and I advise you to check it out before making the final verdict. On Champions that really rely on a single spell to shove or push, it can be a great relief to have. Of course, this doesn’t apply to all Champions, and I have only picked it up on Twisted Fate so far. Be sure to study the Rune carefully before opting to pick it up on a Champion you deem fit.

I hope you’ve found this article informative and fun to read, and I wish you all the best on the Summoner’s Rift!
